Mission: The Institute was founded in 1963 to conduct research in the tradition of world-renowned scietists, Dr. Carl L. and Laura C. Hubbs. For over 40 years our charter has been: "to return to the sea some measure of the benefits derived from it."

Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute is devoted to finding effective solutions to conflicts that arise between human acitivity and the natural world. We will work with the Strategic Partners of the FMFEI to utilize advanced technology to discover innovative ways for humans and marine anmials to coexist while both conserving marine animals and benefiting humans and our reliance on marine resources.

Our habitat enhancement goals include:

  • Coming to a richer understanding of marine habitats
  • Find ways to reduce human impact on marine habitats

Our stock ehancement goals include:

  • Conserving biological diversity
  • Assessing stock health
  • Release of stock into Florida's eastern water

Our outreach/education goals include:

  • Educating the public about human impact on marine life
  • Teaching people how to reduce their impact to marine life
  • Demonstrating the importance of leaving a properly conserved marine environment for our future generations
